  1. First proper pun! "Shocking"

    And the first iconic theme.

  2. I think this may be the Bond film that I've watched most often.

  4. Car full of gadgets, Q-branch couldn't afford any labels.

  5. Fun fact!
Gert Fröbe spoke very little English, so Michael Collins dubbed his voice. Director Guy Hamilton instructed Fröbe to speak his lines (in German) quickly which would assist the looping.

  6. Ah, the other Masterson sister. Always makes me think of a Frankie Howerd 'Up Pompeii' joke, when you look at the Masterson sisters...
"We're like two peas in a pod!"
FH "So I see...one all peas and one all pod."

  7. Persistent rumour that Shirley Eaton died after being covered in gold paint turns out to be false: http://www.snopes.com/movies/films/goldfinger.asp

  8. Always a pleasure to see Burt Kwouk in anything.

  9. I do love this film, but I've never been a fan of the practice of speeding up the footage in fight scenes or driving sequences.

  10. And enter Pussy. Honor Blackman was 37 at the time, oldest actress to play a Bond girl so far. Not that that means anything.

  11. I wonder if Bond gets Christmas cards from Mr and Mrs Masterson after carelessly getting both of their daughters killed?

  12. Pussy Galore was, of course, a lesbian in the book. Until Bond "straightens her out". I find that funnier than I should...60s attitudes!

  13. Still very enjoyable despite some very bizarre plot choices (e.g. explaining the plan to the comedy gangsters only to kill them anyway?). And Bond is a lot more rapey than I remember.

  15. Surprised by how incompetent they make Goldfinger the whole way through the film. Bond forces him to lose at cards at the start, cheats him at golf in the middle then foils the grand plan at the end.
