"You are just a stupid policeman whose luck has run out." - Dr No

Movie no 1

Dr No
1962 - imdb (link)

James Bond's investigation of a missing colleague in Jamaica leads him to the island of the mysterious Dr. No and a scheme to end the US space program.

Cast

James Bond - Sean Connery

Villian - Dr No - Joseph Wiseman

Bond girl - Honey Ryder - Ursula Andress

M - Bernard Lee
Moneypenny - Lois Maxwell
Q - Peter Burton (fun-fact below!)

Director - Terrence Young
Screenplay - Richard Maibaum, Johanna Harwood & Berkley Mather.

Cast fun-fact!
Q - credited as 'Major Boothroyd' - Peter Burton - interestingly, whilst the actor that plays M over the years has changed, that could argued as being simply a change in the head of the service (obviously, once you get to Dame Judy!)...that 'M' is a post, occupied by several over the years, and that 'Q' may well be the same.  But Peter Burton is crediet as Major Boothroyd, which is the same man that Desmond Llewelyn played for many years, in the post of 'Q', the head of Q-Branch.

  1. And so we begin!

Utterly bizarre opening sequence to Dr No...

    1. Reminded me of the Mission Impossible theme tune with its bizarre steel drum interlude. They don't write songs like that anymore.

  2. And the long tradition of unnecessarily elaborate ways to kill Bond, unmonitored and open to escape begins!
Seriously, you've managed to get into his bedroom to plant a tarantula without waking him up (then left and not checked on)...if you've got in, just shoot him!

    1. Having seen Dr. No sneak in while Bond was sleeping and have a look under the covers, I can't help what else they did while planting that spider.

  3. Double fun fact...Ian Fleming wanted his cousin Christopher Lee to play Dr. No.

  4. Poor Quarrel, killed by a tractor with teeth painted on it.
