Movie no 1
Dr No
1962 - imdb (link)
James Bond's investigation of a missing colleague in Jamaica leads him
to the island of the mysterious Dr. No and a scheme to end the US space
program.
Cast
James Bond - Sean Connery
Villian - Dr No - Joseph Wiseman
Bond girl - Honey Ryder - Ursula Andress
M - Bernard Lee
Moneypenny - Lois Maxwell
Q - Peter Burton (fun-fact below!)
Director - Terrence Young
Screenplay - Richard Maibaum, Johanna Harwood & Berkley Mather.
Cast fun-fact!
Q
- credited as 'Major Boothroyd' - Peter Burton - interestingly, whilst
the actor that plays M over the years has changed, that could argued as
being simply a change in the head of the service (obviously, once you
get to Dame Judy!)...that 'M' is a post, occupied by several over the
years, and that 'Q' may well be the same. But Peter Burton is crediet
as Major Boothroyd, which is the same man that Desmond Llewelyn played
for many years, in the post of 'Q', the head of Q-Branch.

It's a hard life in the 00- Section
Turns out that being shot at, throttled, beaten, thrown out of planes, dropped into shark pools, drugged, slashed, burned, kicked, near drowned, dropped down the Millennium Dome(!)...and the Golden Gate Bridge(!!), tortured with scorpions and near getting your double-0s separated with a laser takes it's toll on a man. All meant with the utmost respect.
But the smoking, drinking and promiscuity probably didn't help either...
Mind you, staying in the office most of the time doesn't seem much better. Surely Q was wondering where he was going wrong!

Adele escaped!
We'll be covering the theme songs as we blog our way through the marathon (brace yourselves when Madonna arrives...I, for one, may get offensive)
But for now...it escaped...the worst kept secret in Bond history!
But for now...it escaped...the worst kept secret in Bond history!
The plot
So here's the deal; we'll be watching all 22 of the back catelogue of Bond movies (no, not the 'Casino Royale' alla Peter Sellers, or 'Never Say Never Again') over 3 days and then capping it off with 'Skyfall'.
The plan is...
...with short breaks between.
People will say, and have said, about 'Never Say Never Again' and the 'Casino Royale' with David Niven should be included, and there are tales that similar endeavours have been attempted with them included...but 'Never Say Never Again' is an inferior remake of 'Thunderball' and not part of the EA franchise, and no-one involved in 'Casino Royale' (made after 'Dr No', 'From Russia With Love' and 'Goldfinger') ever intended it to be part of the canon. Also, no-one ever includes the first adaptation of 'Casino Royale', the 1 hour television "movie" with Barry Nelson as James "Jimmy" Bond and the legendary Peter Lorre as Le Chiffre.
They have their place, and personally I have a soft spot for Niven's 'Royale', but they aren't for this...unless we accidentally make exceptionally good time and end up having to fill some!
Day one is the 9th Novermeber...put it in your diaries.
And to show there's no hard feelings...
